Pragmatic Play Partners With Luckia

Published on: 03/11/2020

This week, Pragmatic Play announced that it would be partnering with operator Luckia, a gaming company based in Colombia, to host its full catalogue. Through this year, Pragmatic Play has been working to grow in South America, a goal the company has made even more evident through the creation of what it is calling its LATAM Hub, currently overseen by Marcos Ford and Victor Arias.

What Is Pragmatic Play?

Pragmatic Play is an online games developer, active in the industry since 2015. The company is fully multinational, with main offices in Gibraltar and Malta and satellite branches in London, Zhytomir, Kiev, Noida, Cardiff, Bucharest, Belgrade, Hyderabad, and — as a testament to its enthusiasm for Latin America — Buenos Aires.

Pragmatic Play boasts alliances with some of the biggest names in international gambling, including William Hill, Betfair, PokerStars, LeoVegas, Betconstruct, Betsson, 1xBet, SoftSwiss, Every Matrix, 1xSlots, and many more. This is not bad for a company active for just five years!

The Pragmatic Play LATAM Hub

In mid-June of this year, Pragmatic Play announced that it would be formally opening what it was calling its LATAM Hub, a calculated effort to significantly expand business in the region. At the time, company representatives established that Victor Arias would serve as the VP for Pragmatic Play’s growing Latin American sector.

Arias, a former executive for leading Argentine gambling company Patagonia — now known as Salsa Technology — was named as the responsible party to spearhead the growth of Pragmatic Play’s business through Latin America. According to a press release, Arias was chosen because of his expertise in the region due to his time with Patagonia.

The LATAM Hub began in Argentina, where Salsa Technology is also based. Arias started out with a group of three other members of the Pragmatic Play team, and was later joined by Marcos Ford, who was named as Head of Account Management for Pragmatic Play’s LATAM Hub in late October, 2020.

Pragmatic Play and Luckia

The latest company to join the fold at Pragmatic Play is Luckia, an online gambling operator based in Colombia. Thanks to this arrangement, players in Colombia will now be able to access Pragmatic Play’s vast catalogue of games, which is updated to feature new content up to five times a month.

The Games Coming To Luckia

Luckia players will likely be happy to see the sheer amount of new material coming their way thanks to this latest deal between Luckia and Pragmatic Play. In addition to more than 200 different online slots, Pragmatic Play is home to live casino and bingo options, as well as scratch cards, table games, video poker, and more.

Popular titles by Pragmatic Play include names like 5 Lions Dance, Wild Walker, Ultra Hold & Spin, Wild Wild Riches, Pyramid King, Street Racer, Fruit Party, Great Rhino Megaways, and a franchise known as the John Hunter series, a rugged, Indiana Jones-like adventurer who goes on exotic international quests.

Coming Soon From Pragmatic Play

Pragmatic Play has also released hints for a few titles players can expect to see on their screens in the coming weeks. This will include titles like Dragon Tiger, which will come out on November 5, 2020, and Book of Kingdoms, which will come out on November 16, 2020.

Pragmatic Play Continues To Grow In Latin America

From June to today, Pragmatic Play has continued to build towards a solid presence in the Latin American gambling market. In early October, the company announced that it had partnered with Zamba, an iGaming operator based out of Colombia. The announcement came just a short time after Zamba announced a partnership with Booongo.

According to the company, the deal with Zamba — and this most recent partnership with Luckia — is not the only business the company has going in its brand-new LATAM Hub. Apparently, Pragmatic Play has achieved partnerships with some of Latin American gambling’s biggest names, indicating more big announcements could come soon.

A Trend Of Companies Building Hubs In Latin America

Pragmatic Play is far from the only company looking to Latin America as the next potential major growth region for the international casinos industry, particularly as countries across the region — most prominently, Brazil and Argentina — are working to radically reconfigure existing restrictions and/or bans to legal gambling.

In January of this year, games provider Zitro announced that it would be building an additional headquarters in Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. At the time, this announcement followed a confident press conference from Colombian gambling regulatory body Coljuegos, which demonstrated just how lucrative legal iGaming had proven to be.

During The Pandemic, Rules Changing

Until recently, Colombia was leading the trend in Latin America. Having legalized regulated iGaming in 2016, Colombia was quickly outpacing competing nearby countries like Argentina and Brazil, particularly in late 2019 and early 2020, when Argentina’s gambling-friendly government had been replaced with anti-gambling leadership.

Since the pandemic, however, Brazil and Argentina have both considerably changed their tunes. The last year has seen a number of officials in Brazil suggest a variety of approaches which would effectively legalize gambling in some capacity, be it regional, hotel specific, or otherwise. In a shocking twist, Argentina appears to be moving toward legal iGaming.
